African American and Latino American Culture

African American culture and Latino American culture are alike and different in many ways. This week, I researched the similarities and differences between the two cultures. Through the disciplines of history and culture studies, I look to proves that the two cultures have more in common that many believe.

  1. I liked that you talked about the fact that African Americans cannot trace their lineage. It took me back to the project I had to do about my family history and migration last semester, in which I talked about alcoholism in my family. I had to say that the addiction probably came from enslaved relatives, since alcohol was used in the enslavement of African Americans. However, there was no real proof that my family's alcohol problem came from slavery because I could not trace my lineage back to the slave era, unfortunately.
